Indiana Pacers point guard Tyrese Haliburton has been to two All-Star Games, named to the All NBA Third Team, and won gold in the Paris Olympics. Despite that, some people still not convinced with his game.
Former NBA Player Austin Rivers has some hard takes about Haliburton’s game, to the point that he suggested that he does not have enough arsenal in his bag.
Rivers, who last played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2022-2023 season, said the Pacers ace’s game is just crab dribbling – all he does is go sideways.
He made the comment when asked in his own podcast “Offguard” who he would take between Haliburton and Charlotte Hornets’ LaMelo Ball in his team.
Rivers categorically chose LaMelo Ball while taking shots at Hali’s game.

“He can’t get his shot off because he doesn’t have like a bag where he has like hesi pull-ups and stuff,” he said.
“You get any other elite guard on an island with a big. He’s going to size you up, hang, dribble, hesi-three, hesi pull-up, stop on a dime, pull back. Whatever the case may be, Haliburton is crab-dribbling around.”
Tyrese Haliburton vs LaMelo – Stats and Contract
Haliburton and Ball came to the league at the same time as lottery picks in 2020. They reached basically the same personal achievements but when it comes to team achievements, Haliburton got the no 2 pick’s numbers.
Ball is yet to play in the playoffs while Hali already reached the Eastern Conference finals.
When it comes to who would one choose to build a team around, Pacers are spending more on Haliburton. The two-time All-Star recently signed a 5-year, $244.62 million deal that will keep him with the club until the 2028-2029 season.
What Ball got from the Pacers is not that bad either. He, too, signed a five-year deal although slightly lower at $203,852,600.
Ball, however, is performing better right now. He is currently averaging 30.2 ppg, 5.0 rpg, and 6.3 apg.
Haliburton’s stats are down from last season and he even had a game where he scored zero point. It shows how he is struggling in some games.
Right now, his 14.0 points per game and 7.3 assists per gam is a far cry from his 20ppg and 10ppg from last season.
