The Philadelphia 76ers are going through a troubling 2024-25 season. Through 61 games, Philadelphia sits at 21-40 and 12th in the Eastern Conference. To make matters worse, they’re 1-9 in their last 10 games.
Now, news regarding one of their best players is going viral.
76ers’ Troubling Tyrese Maxey News Release Ignites Widespread Speculation (Report)

A back contusion forced Tyrese Maxey to leave the Portland Trail Blazers game. Maxey was clearly in pain after falling on the hardwood during a layup attempt:
While the injury was believed to be nothing serious, Maxey has been ruled out of the game against the Minnesota Timberwolves with a lower-back sprain.
Sixers guard Tyrese Maxey (lower-back sprain) will miss tonight’s game vs. the Timberwolves. Paul George (left groin soreness), Quentin Grimes (left bicep soreness) and Justin Edwards (sprained left ankle) are questionable, while Kelly Oubre Jr. (illness) is probable. pic.twitter.com/3XK5xX4mIj

Of course, Maxey is not the 76ers’ only fitness concern right now. Paul George, Quentin Grimes and Justin Edwards are all listed as questionable as well.
At this point in time, one would think that the Sixers should not be particularly concerned about picking up wins anyway.
A play-in spot is still well within reach but even if the 76ers make the post-season, it is hard to imagine that they will be able to make a splash. Instead, trying to improve their draft lottery chances might be a better idea in the long run.

Here is a look at Maxey’s recent stats:
