Couches are made for Saturday’s; good thing we have a tremendous college basketball line-up to keep us busy from dawn till’ dusk. Four head-to-head matchups between the 25 best teams and five fringe teams with chances to upset a ranked opponent fill the schedule with an absolute banger kicking us off at 10:00 AM, CT.
No. 6 Florida Gators versus No. 10 Kentucky Wildcats
Starting bright bright and early the undefeated Florida Gators will be facing the 11-2 Kentucky Wildcats at 10:00 AM sharp(CT) at Rupp Arena, the first ranked matchup of the day. Per ESPN Bet the Gators are favored 2.5 points with an over/under of 164.5.
Although the Wildcats have two losses on the season, they have played well against elite competition winning two games against top-10 opponents. Both teams are top-10 in scoring so expect a shootout in Lexington sat. morning.
No. 23 Arkansas Razorbacks versus No. 1 Tennessee Volunteers
After the offseason coaching change, expectations were high for head coach John Calipari and the Arkansas Razorbacks and despite an early loss to No. 25 Baylor, the 11-2 Razorbacks have put together a respectable season.
That being said, Tennessee is 13-0 and is second best in points allowed per game at 56.2. They have an 88% chance to win acc. to ESPN. Tip-off is at 12:00 PM CT.
No. 25 Baylor Bears versus No. 3 Iowa State Cyclones
The 11-1 Iowa Cyclones host the 8-3 Baylor Bears Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM CT with the Cyclones favored to win by 67.5%. Iowa’s marquis win this year is Marquette, currently ranked No. 8 but besides that they are yet to be tested.
Baylor has the weaponry to take down Iowa but is 2-3 against top-25 teams. Their inconsistency in the spotlight will surely knock them out of the AP Top-25 if they take a loss here. This will also be both team’s first matchup within their Big-12 Conference.
No. 12 Oklahoma Sooners versus No. 5 Alabama Crimson Tide
The last top-25 battle of Saturday, the undefeated Oklahoma Sooners are set to face the No. 5 Alabama Crimson Tide at 5:00 PM CT to close an exciting day of college basketball. Alabama has been red hot as they lead the league in scoring at nearly 90 points a game but have had a rough schedule due to a stacked SEC.
Oklahoma on the other hand has yet to play their SEC Conference games and because of this, has had a lighter schedule to start the season. Although Oklahoma is 13-0, Alabama might be the team to tack a loss into Oklahoma’s record.
Other Exciting Matchups
Texas Longhorns versus No. 13 Texas A&M Aggies
Slotted into the SEC Network’s primetime game, the Texas Longhorns will visit the Texas A&M Aggies at 7:00 PM CT. With both teams sitting at 11-2, this could either be the moment the Longhorns break into the top-25 or a crucial, gritty win for the Aggies.
Given their history the matchup is destined to be a Texan showdown. The infamous Twelfth Man will be packed into Reed Arena, pushing the Aggies to take down an SEC rival.
Cougar on Cougar, BYU versus No. 15 Houston
After a close loss to ranked Ole-Miss, the BYU Cougars have been hunting a new opportunity to prove themselves. Their game versus the Houston Cougars, at 1:00 PM CT is that shot, although they probably were hoping for an easier matchup.
Houston has the best defense in men’s college basketball, ranked first in points allowed per game and are top-25 in blocks per game. Despite a shaky start, Houston has crawled back to being a top-ranked team and isn’t looking to lose any progress this Saturday.
