Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson reportedly inked a six-year contract extension with sports brand Nike, giving her a billion-dollar deal that was described as one of the “richest” in women’s sports history.
As reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania, Wilson and Nike finalized the deal, which is reportedly valued at $114 billion, and was described as “one of the richest shoe deals for a women’s basketball player.”
Earlier this year, A’ja Wilson launched her first signature shoe in partnership with Nike. Called the “A’One,” the signature line would be available in 2025 in time for the new season of the WNBA.
A’ja Wilson took to Threads to express her gratitude to her fans and supporters, and to throw shade to her naysayers and haters, too
“Appreciate all the love yesterday! God truly is working!” A’ja said, sprinkling emojis all over her post. “I’m so [excited] to share things [with you all] next year. A lot of hard work with some amazing [people] behind the scenes to make it ALL come together but we are soooo close.”
She added:
“To my fans: thank youuu [I’m] forever grateful for the unwavering support!!! And to my haters: thank y’all too.”
To top off the sarcastic remark aimed to her haters, the WNBA MVP ended her post with a heartful emoji plus a middle finger emoji, and then said:
“lolololololol.”
A’ja Wilson has been spending time on Threads in the past several days, as she even held an online Q&A and gave her fans who are on the platform to drop a question they’d like an answer for.
Social Media Reacts to A’ja Wilson Nike Contract
Social media reacted to the news of Wilson getting her Nike deal. There were congratulatory messages, but there are a few who referenced a recent controversial statement from a WNBA team owner to throw shade at the league.
A user on X said: “Should’ve gave the whole league a contract so no feelings are hurt. Separating an individual player creates a division.”
The Mystics owner was mainly talking about race, and black women being overlooked constantly. No one cared to acknowledge whether that was true.
This is great for A’ja. A break from the racism of the past.

Another user had a different insight: “I wish media talk more about A’ja than Clark. Clark is an amazing talent and she is going to be the face of the league soon. But A’ja is the face now and the best player and should be given the praise she deserves.”

A’ja Wilson is expected to get back into court action for the 2025 season of the WNBA. She won’t be joining the new league Unrivaled, as she has expressed the desire to prioritize rest and training.
