Angel Reese recently clapped back to people who criticized her over her recent statement about “sitting out” games.
The backlash came after people criticized her for her “threat” of sitting out games if players from the league did not get the pay they deserved. However, the Rose BC star clarified that her statement was not how people with “selective hearing” make it out to be.
“I love how y’all have selective hearing,” Reese said in her post. “I said ‘I’m hearing if they don’t give us what we want, we sitting out’ and that’s the truth. I never said anything about the NBA. We are prepared to stay at the negotiating table for as long as it takes.”

She finished her post with a sweet shout-out to her fans and critics alike: “Thank ya😘”

Angel Reese was not the first person to talk about the pay issue within the WNBA. In a recent interview, Erin Kane, Caitlin Clark’s agent, spoke about the possibility that Clark may never get paid by the league her real worth.
“Will Caitlin Clark ever be paid by the WNBA what she’s really worth to that league? I don’t think that’s possible,” said Kane. “She’s part of a larger player body. They all need to be paid more. She should be recognized for what she has done and what she’s brought to the league from an economic standpoint. It’s as simple as that.”
Angel Reese Gets Honest on WNBA Pay Issue
During the said podcast episode, Angel Reese cited the WNBA Collective Bargaining Agreement and how she is determined to fight for what she believes women in the league deserve in terms of pay.
“Yeah, the CBA is coming up,” Reese said on the podcast episode. “We deserve more. Everybody, everybody. But we have to face the consequences? The women coming in next year are probably gonna be making more than us. I gotta get in the meetings. Because I’m hearing… If y’all don’t give us what we want, we sitting out.”
Her guest, Dallas Wings guard DiJonai Carrington, responded in agreement, saying: “Yeah, that’s a possibility. For real, it was kind of a possibility on the last one. But now, just with the leverage that we have right now. It’s just a time where women’s basketball is going crazy. It’s gonna be a time next year. But we deserve it.”

During the 2024 WNBA season, Angel Reese averaged 13.6 points, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.3 steals per game for the Chicago Sky.
