Kyren Lacy tragically passed away at the age of 24 in Houston, Texas. Authorities reported that Lacy died by apparent suicide in his car following a police pursuit. The incident occurred late Saturday night when Lacy crashed his vehicle, and upon officers approaching the scene, they discovered he had self-inflicted a fatal gunshot wound. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

Lacy’s death came amidst legal troubles stemming from a fatal car accident in December 2024 in Louisiana. He was accused of negligent homicide, felony hit-and-run, and reckless operation of a vehicle after allegedly driving recklessly and causing a crash that resulted in the death of 78-year-old Herman Hall. Lacy fled the scene of the accident and later turned himself in to authorities.
“We’re saddened to learn of the tragic passing of former LSU Football student-athlete Kyren Lacy,” the school said in a statement to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. “Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones, as well as his former teammates and coaches impacted by his passing.”
