Angel Reese and the Chicago Sky’s new head coach Tyler Marsh had an emotional response to the tribute video the Las Vegas Aces prepared for their former assistant coach and head of player development.
Marsh inked a multi-year deal with the Sky, replacing Teresa Weatherspoon who only lasted one season with the team after they fired her in September. As soon as the Sky announced the move on Sunday, the Aces released the tribute video, thanking their former assistant coach for his contributions to the former back-to-back WNBA champions.
The video showed snippets of Marsh’s time in LAs Vegas, with coach Becky Hammon singing praises for her former assistant coach. In response, Marsh quote-posted the video on X.
“Man… No, thank YOU. Love and appreciate you all,” he said.

Reese, who had earlier said that she couldn’t imagine playing for the Sky without Weatherspoon, took to X to pose a simple “W” to seemingly welcome the management’s move to acquire Marsh as their new head coach.
Tyler Marsh will lead a team headlined by two first-round picks from the 2024 WNBA Draft, Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. There is a possibility that the team will look to build their roster around the incoming sophomores.
Tyler Marsh could elevate Angel Reese’s game
Angel Reese’s “W” post on X in response to Tyler Marsh being announced as the Chicago Sky’e new head coach may be a sign of good things to come for the squad. Many WNBA fans are weighing in that the Sky’s new head coach could elevate the Sky star’s game and help the team cement themselves as playoff contenders in the next season.
The Sky endured a tough 2023-24 season, finishing 13-27 after losing Reese to a season-ending injury and inadvertently losing their playoff spot. The team’s rebounding took a blow with her absence, and with unfortunate injuries to Kamilla Cardoso and Chennedy Carter, the team stumbled and failed to keep their playoff berth.
Before her early exit, Angel Reese had an impactful rookie season, averaging 13.6 points on 39.1 percent shooting, 13.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.5 blocks in 34 games. She is currently recovering from her season-ending wrist injury, and is getting ready for her Unrivaled league debut.
Come the 2024-25 WNBA season, it will be interesting to see what kind of dynamic the “Chi-Town Barbie” will form with the former two-time WNBA champion coach.
