Angel Reese is setting a sky-high bar for herself heading into the 2025 WNBA season after a standout rookie campaign in 2024. The Chicago Sky forward made the most of her offseason, dominating the Unrivaled 3×3 league and leading Rose BC to a championship in its inaugural season.
Reese averaged 13.3 points and a league-leading 12.1 rebounds in the Unrivaled, proving she’s more than ready for Year 2 in the W.
But it’s not just about more boards and buckets in the paint. Under new head coach Tyler Marsh, the Bayou Barbie is evolving—aiming to unlock her potential as a true stretch-four.
“I’m still doing my post work, but I’ve got to come with more this year,” Reese told the Chicago Tribune. “I’ve got to be able to shoot the midrange shot, 10 to 15 feet, be able to shoot the 3, the 2 consistently. I work every day on it, so I’ve got to take the shots.”
The Sky’s offense, once limited by a crowded paint with Reese and Kamilla Cardoso, is now shifting toward versatility. Reese stretching the floor not only frees up lanes, but also makes Chicago a matchup nightmare on both ends.
“That’s going to be one of the keys to this team—the versatility,” she added. “Being able to get the rebound and just push and create and make people have to guard us on every end of the court.”

Reunited and it feels so good: Angel Reese excited to play again with LSU teammate ahead of 2025 WNBA Season
Reese’s 2025 season isn’t just about evolving her game—it’s also about rekindling chemistry. The Sky used their 11th pick in the draft to select Hailey Van Lith, Reese’s former LSU teammate. The moment wasn’t lost on Angel, who took to X to post:
“We ain’t do it right the first time. Let’s run it backkkkk 🫣”

Reese and Van Lith played together at LSU during the 2023-24 season before parting ways—Reese went pro, while HVL took her final college run to TCU. Now, they’re back in the same jersey, ready to make magic happen at the next level.

The Sky will tip off their 2025 campaign with a preseason matchup against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday. With new roles, reunited stars, and a fresh playbook under Coach Marsh, Chicago is betting big on Year 2 Angel—and she’s betting big on herself.
