Angel Reese and her controversial statement on the possibility of a lockout of WNBA games and players sitting out games gets a reality check from the hosts over at the PBD Podcast.
In one of the recent episodes of the podcast, co-host and entrepreneur Adam Sosnick gave his honest take on the “threat” of Angel Reese on the possibility of WNBA players sitting out games if the pay increase they want is not granted. For Sosnick, someone else has the real power when it comes to sitting out games.
“Ladies who are making $74,000 a year play for playing 40 games—somebody called it ROI on your investment—you chose this profession,” he said. “You know how much you make in the WNBA. If you go to college you get a major, look at the ROI on the major. If you go to trade school look at the ROI on that whatever career you choose. You should probably look at what the career earnings are of going into that field.”
“What I’ll also say is this every single one of you WNBA players: you better pray that Caitlin Clark doesn’t get injured. Because she’s keeping your league afloat. Without her, ain’t nobody care about you.”
The WNBA reported financial losses of approximately $40 million during the 2024 season. However, Caitlin Clark’s entry into the league significantly mitigated these losses. Her presence led to a dramatic increase in attendance, viewership, and merchandise sales, with her team, the Indiana Fever, selling out all 16 home games and boosting league-wide revenue.
The “Caitlin Clark Effect” contributed to a substantial rise in average game revenue, from $130,144 in 2023 to $545,152 in 2024, marking an additional $415,008 per game. While the league still faced financial challenges, Clark’s impact undeniably reduced the extent of the losses and highlighted the potential for future growth.

Angel Reese Claps Back at Backlash: “Y’all Have Selective Hearing”
Following her statement about the potential of WNBA players sitting out on games, and the backlash that she got from it, Angel Reese took to social media platform X and clapped back at critics who have called her out over her words.
“I love how y’all have selective hearing,” Reese said in her post. “I said ‘I’m hearing if they don’t give us what we want, we sitting out’ and that’s the truth. I never said anything about the NBA. We are prepared to stay at the negotiating table for as long as it takes.”
