After a scorching start to the season that had their fans already thinking of a championship parade, Anthony Davis and the Los Angeles Lakers have seemingly hit a rough patch. They have lost three of their last four games, including Monday night’s 115-103 upset loss at the hands of the Detroit Pistons at Little Caesars Arena.
Davis torched the Pistons for 37 points on an efficient 13-for-23 shooting from the floor and 11-for-14 line from the charity stripe in 39 minutes but his scoring outburst was not enough to prevent the loss to a Detroit team that entered the game with just two wins on the season.
Anthony Davis speaks up about the Los Angeles Lakers’ befuddling start to the 2024-25 season
Davis let out his frustration following the loss to the Pistons but still appeared optimistic about the Lakers.
“We’re just two different teams right now,” Davis said. “One game, we’re this team who showcased it can be one of the better teams in the league. Then the next, we’re this team who — I don’t even know who we are. So, we just got to be better.
It could get worse for the Lakers with Davis having aggravated his left foot injury in the fourth period. This could mean some time away from the court for the 31-year-old big man, who is averaging 32.6 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game, so far in the 2024-25 NBA campaign.
