Anthony Edwards has been known to be one of the most confident players in the NBA, and he has taken on that same vibe in his second Team USA stint since turning professional. With the 2024 USA national team boasting one of the best-assembled teams since NBA players are allowed to play in the Olympics, the Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard gives his honest take on who the first option is.
The 2024 USA basketball team bound for the Paris Olympics features a stacked roster of NBA superstars that include LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant and Joel Embiid, to name a few. With more established names that are bound to enter the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame when they call it a career, Edwards is confident enough to hint that he is the top dog in the league right now.

The reporter asked Edwards who he thinks is the No. 1 option on the team, the 22-year-old is not shy about hinting that he is the answer to the question.
“What [do] you think?” asks Edwards.
“Did you think you were the No. 1 option out there?”

This is the second time that Edwards is suiting up for Team USA since getting drafted by the Timberwolves. His initial stint was during the 2023 FIBA World Cup, where he was the leading scorer, scoring 18.9 points in eight games. However, that version of Team USA failed to make the podium finish and went home as the fourth-placed team.

Anthony Edwards admits being nervous in this Team USA Olympic stint
As confident as he can be, Anthony Edwards showed signs that he is human after all, admitting that he is getting the jitters about joining the USA basketball team for the 2024 Paris Olympics. Timberwolves beat writer Chris Hine reports that the two-time NBA All-Star finds himself in an unusual spot of getting his confidence waned.
The first overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft shares a story about how he told LeBron James what he was feeling.
“I was nervous for real, I ain’t gonna lie. I told Bron … I ain’t been nervous in a minute. My first time playing in the Olympics. I definitely was nervous,” said Edwards.

Being used to being the top scorer on most of the teams that Edwards is on, he will certainly have help since other NBA stars are capable of producing big numbers like Devin Booker, Jayson Tatum and Antony Davis.
