The Atlanta Hawks played the Portland Trail Blazers at home on Tuesday night, and while they absorbed a 127-113 loss, star point guard Trae Young had a productive outing.
The former Oklahoma Sooners star stuffed the stat sheets with 29 points and 15 assists to go with four rebounds and three steals in 36 minutes. He shot just 7-for-20 from the field but was 3-for-7 from deep and 12-for-13 from the foul line.
Also, he became just the first player to rack up at least 1,500 points and 800 assists in 70 games or fewer in a season in over three decades.

So far this season, the 26-year-old Young has 1,688 points and 811 assists through 70 games.
He can add more to those numbers, as the Hawks have seven games left to play, including this Wednesday’s meeting with the Dallas Mavericks on the road.
Young and the Hawks have struggled of late, hurting their chances to crack the top six in the Eastern Conference standings. At the moment, they are eighth in the East with a 36-39 record, five games out of the sixth place. Still, Atlanta is mathematically still in the hunt for a sure playoff spot.
