Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young firmly believes he would be one of the GOATs if he is taller than he is right now.

“I used to hate when I used to see guys that are tall and that’s all. They just out there tall, and that’s all. If I was 6’8″, I feel like I would be the best player ever to play this game. Just because of my mentality, the way I play, and the smartness I have about this game, I feel like I can bring a lot to the game,” Young said during a recent interview on Million Dollaz Worth of Game.
“But there are a lot of deficiencies because I’m 6’1″, it’s tough. I am playing in a big man’s game. I don’t know, ” he added.

Trae Young is listed at 6’1″ and 164 pounds, which is considered small by NBA standards. Despite this, he is one of the league’s best players because of his uncanny ability to score and create offense for his teammates.
However, as he mentioned, his physical profile comes with deficiencies because he regularly finds it hard to hold his own defensively against bigger players, thus limiting his upside.
Trae Young for the Atlanta Hawks in 2023-24
Trae Young became a three-time NBA All-Star last season after averaging 25.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 10.8 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 37.3 percent from three-point range in 54 regular season games.

However, Young was named one of the worst defensive players in the league, posting a 118.9 defensive rating, -2.3 defensive box plus-minus, and 0.053 defensive win shares.
The Atlanta Hawks finished the regular season as the 10th seed with a 36-46 record. But the Chicago Bulls eliminated them in the play-in tournament, ruining their playoff hopes.
With Dejounte Murray traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, Trae Young will have to do the heavy lifting again for the Atlanta Hawks this upcoming season.
