Trae Young lost his composure during the Atlanta Hawks’ 120-95 defeat against the Orlando Magic in last night’s seventh vs. eighth matchup in the 2025 NBA play-in tournament.

With Atlanta down by 20 points, Young was ejected from the game after getting consecutive technical fouls with 4:47 left. After knocking down a floater, the four-time NBA All-Star threw a hard pass to the baseline referee for his first and played keep-away with the other referee for his second.
Young left the game with 28 points (team-high), two rebounds, and six assists on 8-for-21 shooting from the field and 11-for-12 from the free throw line.

Georges Niang, Mouhamed Gueye, and Onyeka Okongwu added 15, 12, and 11 points in the losing effort. Meanwhile, Zaccharie Risacher and Dyson Daniels were only held to seven points apiece.
Atlanta Hawks News: Trae Young opens up on his ejection vs. Orlando Magic
Trae Young addressed his meltdown after the game and vowed to be better when the Atlanta Hawks face the winner of the Chicago Bulls-Miami Heat play-in match later.

“He’s quick to own that. But the game was out of hand at that point. But again, this is playoff basketball, there’s going to be adversity. We have to continue to handle it in a way that can power through some of that,” head coach Quin Snyder said about Young via Lauren Williams of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“I told him (Snyder) I was sticking up for the squad, and I’m not gonna let the refs frustrate me like that in our next game. I know we gotta win or go home next game and I’m gonna be ready,” Young added.
