The Duke Blue Devils might have more than one supposed star on their hands with Kon Knueppel continuing to impress this season. Knueppel, a fellow top freshman in the 2024 recruiting class, has put on an offensive show thus far displaying his excellent shooting. The Duke Blue Devils suffered their first loss of the 2024 season during their first real test of the season against Kentucky. The Wildcats came to play and provided one of the best basketball games early in the 2024 collegiate season. Kentucky utilized a deep four-man bench rotation for the majority of the game giving the Blue Devils plenty of different looks. Recently, the Florida Gators athletic department revealed that a Title IX complaint had been placed against basketball coach Todd Golden. Golden, a former low-level assistant, has quickly rose to the top of the college basketball coaching scene as an “aggressive recruiter” off the court. Golden was just recently given a massive extension by the Florida Gators, which could prove to be for nothing after an inquiry and following investigation have been announced. The Wisconsin Badgers have secure their third win of the season in as many games after defeating Appalachian State. The Badgers got off to a slow start against the Mountaineers and trailed 17-8 midway through the first-half. However, Wisconsin turned up the heat on both sides of the ball and woke up throughout the rest of the first-half. The Vermont Catamounts have finished the brief season-starting tour of Alabama after battling against the Auburn Tigers. The Creighton Bluejays pulled off a solid 99-86 win behind a massive offensive performance from star center Ryan Kalkbrenner. The 7-foot-1-inch skyscraper of a center recorded 49-points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and shot 90.9% from the field against UT Rio Grande Valley. Kalkbrenner shot 20-of-22 from the floor and 2-for-2 from three-point range against the Vaqueros in a very gritty game overall. The Blue Devils offense moved the ball through the two freshmen Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel, who are leaders on the team. The Kentucky Wildcats have begun the season with a big 103-62 win over the opposing Wright State Raiders team. The Wildcats got out to an early lead against the Raiders and never really looked back in the game. The Texas A&M Aggies fought hard, but eventually lost the opening game of the season which is a disaster for the ranked team. The Aggies played against a tough UCF Knights squad and entered the game as just six-point favorites over the team. The Illinois Fighting Illini are down a guard right before tip off, and unfortunately, it could be for good depending on what happens. Ty Rodgers, a junior guard, announced that he will redshirt the 2024 season, and likely will ultimately transfer out of Illinois.
