It is still three years from now, but college basketball fans must already be excited for the 2027 non-conference matchup between the Kansas Jayhawks and the Indiana Hoosiers. That showdown is scheduled to take place on Nov. 12, 2027, at the home of the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders — the Allegiant Stadium, which has a capacity of 65,000.
Kansas head coach Bill Self shared his thoughts on that game that will give a spark to the classic rivalry between the two storied basketball programs.
“I just think it’s hard to pass up being a part of something that’s going to be the focal point of all the eyeballs in college basketball,” Self shared on Monday (h/t Mathey Gibson of SI.com).
“I think the Champions (Classic) deal is still the marquee double-header going in the preseason, and I also believe — there’s other big games, there’s no question, people are playing them all over, which is great for our sport to play as many big non-conference games, inter-conference games, as you possibly can. But to open up Allegiant Stadium the year that they play the Final Four, with a field like Indiana and Duke and […] Arizona, I mean, that’s pretty good,” Self added.
Kansas Jayhawks’ early 2024-25 schedule
As for what’s immediately ahead of Kansas, the Jayhawks are slated to kick off their 2024-25 college basketball campaign on Nov. 4 versus the Howard Bison at Allen Fieldhouse in Lawrence. After that, Kansas will get its first true test of the season with a rematch of the 2022 national title game combatants, as the Jayhawks take on the North Carolina Tar Heels on Nov. 8, also at Allen Fieldhouse.
