The Boston Celtics’ 2024 championship parade was an epic spectacle. Not only did fans show up to the parade venue even before the sun rose, but thousands of Celtics fans made the trip to celebrate the win with their team.
Of course, the star of the show was still the C’s. The players who made Banner #18 possible was front and center of the city’s festivities. They addressed the crowd during the parade and celebrated their achievement to the music of their fans’ cheers.
While there were plenty of epic moments to discuss from the parade, Al Horford was one of the stars of the show. His appearance during the parade grabbed headlines, as it featured one of the city’s most beloved athletes.
Al Horford’s outfit during the Boston Celtics’ championship parade featured a drunk Tom Brady
Al Horford was having the time of his life as he won his first chip after six seasons with the Celtics. It’s been a long 17-year journey for Horford to reach the top of the mountain, so this championship meant everything for him.
To further emphasize how much the championship meant for Horford, he wore a shirt that had one of New England’s most beloved sons on it: a drunk Tom Brady having the time of his life after his Super Bowl 55 win with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Brady won six Super Bowl rings with the New England Patriots, so almost every Bostonian will forever cherish him for the glory he brought to the city. However, his final Super Bowl celebration saw Tom at his most relaxed self: drunk and throwing the Lombardi trophy from one yacht to another.
The outfit choice just made Horford more beloved among the Boston fanbase.
Al Horford’s strong NBA Finals performance
At 37 years old, it’s clear that Horford wasn’t the focal point of Boston’s game plan. However, his presence was a necessity for the C’s to win the chip.
He averaged 7.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 30.0 minutes per game through five Finals games. He was part of a deadly big-man rotation with Kristaps Porzingis that caused plenty of problems for Jason Kidd’s Dallas Mavericks.
It wouldn’t be surprising if Horford calls it a career after winning a ring. However, the Celtics and the entirety of New England will hope he still wants to run it back one more time.
