The Boston Celtics continue to dominate and are almost a lock among NBA fans as one of the likelier teams to make the NBA Finals.
The team’s performances this season explain why the defending champions are heavy favorites to make back-to-back FInals appearances. Their impressive road record this year—which is on pace to make them one of the most successful away teams in league history—and the consistent production of their incredibly deep roster make them a tough nut to crack.

While Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown still run the team, they also have multiple key contributors who can take over when either of their stars are down in the dumps. One such player stood out during the team’s most recent game as he broke a team record made by one of their most beloved icons.
Derrick White breaks Isaiah Thomas’s 3PT record with the Boston Celtics

Derrick White saw plenty of action during the Celtics’ 117-103 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. He finished the game with 14 points, eight rebounds, and 10 assists on 4/13 shooting. He added to his performance with two blocked shots.
While his numbers for the game were impressive, he had a terrible night with his long-range attempts. He only made three of his 11 shot attempts. These figures would be terrible on any other day, but he’s playing his part in Joe Mazzulla’s offense as an outlet for Tatum and Brown.
The sheer volume of three-point attempts he made has helped him overtake Isaiah Thomas in the rankings of most three-point shots made in a single season. According to ClutchPoints’ Daniel Donabedian, White took the record from the former point guard with a long-range bomb over Zach Edey in the fourth quarter.

However, White wasn’t the only one who stood out during the game. Tatum had a strong outing against the Grizzlies, ending the night with 25 points, 14 boards, and two dimes. Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis took over Brown’s scoring responsibilities with 18 and 19 points, respectively.
