The Boston Celtics look ready for the upcoming 2025 NBA playoffs. Jayson Tatum and company defeated the San Antonio Spurs on the road on Saturday night, extending the defending NBA champions’ win streak to eight games.
Moreover, the Celtics improved their record to 55-19, which means they have now won at least 55 games in three seasons in a row. One has to go all the way back to the 1980s to check out the last time Boston won at least that many games in three consecutive seasons before it finally happened again this year.
Via Celtics Stats:
The Celtics have won 55+ games in three straight seasons, their longest such streak since the 1980s.
The Celtics had nine straight seasons of at least 55 victories in the 80s, beginning in the 1979-80 campaign. Over that stretch, Boston won three NBA titles, including in the 1985-86 season when the team went 67-15.
Boston Celtics took care of business against the Spurs

In the Spurs game, Tatum allayed any fears about his ankle that he injured last week, as he scored 29 points to go along with 10 rebounds and eight assists in 36 minutes.
Boston’s bench also stepped up, especially Luke Kornet, who came up with a double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds.
Already assured of a playoff spot and with the No. 2 seed in the East likely in the bag, the Celtics will look to sustain their form, as they take on the Memphis Grizzlies to finish a six-game road trip on Monday.
