Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla earned the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month honors for March. Mazzulla led the team to a 14-1 record for the month, including an 8-0 record on the road. According to the NBA, the Celtics had the second-best record overall and the best record in the conference.
Additionally, Boston had the highest net rating in the East with 11.6. The team’s defense was also a significant reason behind the team’s success. The Celtics have a 107.7 defensive net rating, which puts them second in the conference and held opponents to 45.2% shooting during the month.

Mazzulla, however, was unconcerned by the accomplishment he had gotten. He responded bluntly when asked what he felt about earning Coach of the Year.
“It’s the dumbest thing ever,” Mazzulla said.

In the 2024-25 NBA season, the Celtics are second in the East with a 56-19 record. Starting on Friday, Boston has six games left. They are leaning on Mazzulla to help them finish the season on a high note before the start of the Playoffs.
Boston Celtics head coach believes Payton Pritchard deserves to win the Sixth Man of the Year

The Boston Celtics’ head coach isn’t the only one getting recognition for how they’ve performed this season. Their sparkplug, Payton Pritchard, has a reach chance to win the Sixth Man of the Year. Pritchard is among the favorites to win the award, as he’s averaging 14 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists on 41.1% shooting from deep. He’s played 73 games, which means he falls under the 65-game rule.
Ahead of the Celtics’ Wednesday game against the Miami Heat, Mazzulla was asked about his thoughts on Pritchard winning the award after the season.
“Many reasons. I think his ability to impact games in so many different ways. I think sometimes that award could just be looked at from a scoring standpoint, and he’s shown he score,” Mazzulla said.
“But really, his impact on the game in different ways whether it’s offensive rebounding, whether it’s his defense. He’s changed multiple games for us. I think over the course of a long season, you have your guys who you’re judged by your team. But, for most of the season, we haven’t had our whole team… I hope he gets it.”

Mazzulla is hopeful that the award falls on Pritchard’s hands when it’s all said and done.
