There’s no question that Isaiah Thomas is beloved among the Boston Celtics fandom. While the team failed to win anything significant during his time as the franchise’s #1 option, the dedication to the craft and passion he showed during his time in Celtic green won over even the most hardened Boston sports fan.
While his time with the C’s didn’t result in any championships, he was a vital cog in how the current roster has turned out to be. Without his guidance during the middle to late 2010s, it’s easy to see the Celtics having a tougher time transitioning to their current core of players.
While IT is now far from his athletic peak, he’s not shy to talk about topics covering the Celtics and the league. One particular instance has him talking about his time in New England.
Isaiah Thomas explains why the Boston Celtics have a special place in his heart
The former Celtics star appeared on the Knuckleheads podcast with Quentin Richardson and Darius Miles. While they covered various topics during his guesting, his comments about his time in Boston will have Celtics fans swoon over the 5’9″ guard like it’s 2015.
Per Fadeaway World’s Vishwesha Kumar:
“Nothing against those other franchises either. Like, there’s no comparison. I bet, I bet the Knicks is comparison. Like, you know how you go away game and you, you was on the Knicks.”
“You know how you go to the away game, it’s all blue and orange in there. You go to a Boston game. I mean, you go to a game, away game, it’s all green in there. Like it’s, the feeling playing for the Celtics is amazing.”
“Like, and then the love you get, the love is like the love that I get to this day. You would think I won a championship there. You would think I had a 10-year career there. Like you would think my jersey is retired in them stands.”
“Yeah, the love that they give me and the love that I got there from day one. Like you said, it’s just different. Obviously, I put my career on the line for those guys. And the city seen that. So like, I got real genuine love for on the line for those guys. I think it’s the same for sure.”
Thomas was nothing short of unstoppable during his three-year stint with the Boston Celtics, averaging 24.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.0 steals a game.
While he didn’t get a ring with the C’s, New England sports fans will forever remember the grit and talent he brought to the organization.
