Even though the Boston Celtics hold the best record in the league this season, there are still some guys that test them. One such example is Kevin Durant during a recent game between the Eastern Conference leader and the Phoenix Suns.
In that game, the Celtics came out on top with a score of 117-107. Tatum was out there leading Boston by dropping 29 points on 39 percent shooting from the field, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. Jaylen Brown added 27 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals in 34 minutes on the court.
Meanwhile, Kevin Durant led all players in scoring by posting 45 points on 69 percent shooting from the field, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Bradley Beal contributed 25 points, four rebounds, and three steals for the Suns.
At this point of the season, the Celtics’ offense is ranked first among all teams in the league while their defense is third. On the other hand, Durant is averaging 28.3 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.5 assists in the 57 games he has played for the Suns this season.
Boston Celtics Star Jayson Tatum Gets Real On Containing Kevin Durant
After the game, the Celtics star spoke to the media and got real about how hard it was containing Durant. In a video posted by NBCCeltics and shared by Noa Dalzell on X:
Jayson Tatum on Kevin Durant’s 45-point night:
“It was tough. He was getting to his spots, getting easy looks, getting into transition, obviously making some tough ones. But we just kept responding on the other end and getting good shots.”

Without a doubt, Durant is one of the best scorers in NBA history. By using his size, athleticism, shooting, and high basketball IQ, the Phoenix Suns All-Star is able to score from anywhere on the court.
Fortunately, the Celtics managed to get the dub against Durant and the Suns. With that win behind them, it looks like momentum is on Boston’s side as the playoffs draw closer.
