The Boston Celtics’ “Revenge Tour” is already in full swing, as they demolished the New York Knicks and the Washington Wizards in their first two games of the 2024-25 NBA campaign.
As always, Jayson Tatum played a pivotal role in those victories, averaging 31.0 points 7.5 rebounds, and 8.0 assists on 60.5 percent shooting from the field and 50 percent from beyond the arc, putting him in the super early MVP talks.
Tatum has never been shy about wanting to win the league MVP trophy one day, and he is hoping for it to happen this year while winning yet another NBA championship along the way.
“As a kid, you set a lot of goals for yourself. And I’ve been very fortunate to check off a lot of boxes of things that I want to accomplish. Saying that (winning) MVP is important to me is not taking away from the success of our team. Every guy that has ever won MVP has been on a championship-contending team,” Tatum said via Celtics on CLNS.
“If you’re an MVP, you’re dominating, you’re efficient, you’re playing the right way and you’re impacting winning. So you can do both. Championship is the most important but being the best version of yourself along the way is important as well,” he concluded.
Boston Celtics are scorching from beyond the arc
The Boston Celtics were virtually unstoppable in their first two games of the new season because they’ve lit up their opponents from three-point range.
They tied the record for most three-pointers made by a single team by knocking down 29 threes against the New York Knicks, and they had 17 more against the Washington Wizards. Jayson Tatum leads the team in three-pointers made with 11.
