Few expected the Boston Celtics to struggle against the San Antonio Spurs when they met on Saturday. The defending champions were on a seven-game winning streak while San Antonio are trying to salvage something positive out of a season without Gregg Popovich or Victor Wembanyama.
However, the team has been putting together a string of impressive performances as of late, with an impressive win over the New York Knicks being an interesting highlight. While they were still heavy underdogs against the C’s, there was no doubt in everyone’s mind that this was Boston’s game to lose.

New England hoops fans were delighted to see their favorite team clinch the Atlantic division after another convincing win against San Antonio. While the Wemby- and De’Aaron Fox-less Spurs had no chance of winning the game, Chris Paul did a marvelous job in leading the team from the point while also reaching an impressive landmark of his own.
Tatum had nothing but praise to say towards the future Hall of Famer after seeing another vintage display.
Jayson Tatum praised Chris Paul on social media after reaching career milestone

Paul had a decent night leading a barebones Spurs squad. The 39-year-old guard finished the game with a respectable 12 points on 62.5% shooting, five boards, and five dimes in 35 minutes.
What’s more important for basketball fans is that this game boosted Paul’s place int eh all-time appearances ranking. Tatum chose to address the honor through social media.
Per Athlon Sports’ Ayomide Adeduyite:
Paul, now in his 20th NBA season, reached another historic milestone, moving up to 7th all-time in career starts with 1,305 games played as a starter. After the game, Tatum took to Instagram to send a two-word message to Paul.
“My dawg,” he wrote.
Paul hasn’t been as productive as he once was in his last year in Phoenix, but a 39-year-old averaging 8.7 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.6 assists, and 1.3 steals is nothing short of impressive. However, it does seem like his championship window has officially shut close as the Spurs would have to deal with another season without a postseason run.
He may not be playing in the league in the next five years, so it’s a classy gesture from Tatum to give CP3 his flowers.

On the other hand, Tatum had a fantastic game for the C’s. He led all players in scoring with his 29 points. His ten boards, eight dimes, and one rejection completes an all-around performance that C’s fans expect to see in the postseason.
