Former Boston Celtics guard Jeff Teague believes Jayson Tatum won’t win the MVP award no matter how much he tries despite how good his statistics are.

“No, he’s never going to have to do enough to be MVP because his team is so well-balanced and so good right now,” Teague said about Tatum on the Club 520 podcast. “He’s never going to have an MVP; his stats are going to be MVP quality. But we’re never going to feel that because they’ve got so many quality players.”
“JT is still going to have 25, 28 points, but it’s not going to mean as much because their team is so well-balanced, even though he’s still averaging 27. It’s weak; it’s not fair,” he added.

Tatum averages 27.1 points, 8.7 rebounds, 6.0 assists, and 1.1 steals on 45.5 percent shooting from the field across 66 games, and the Boston Celtics are the second seed in the Eastern Conference with a 53-19 record. However, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Nikola Jokic, and Giannis Antetokounmpo are above Tatum in the updated NBA MVP ladder.
Boston Celtics News: Jayson Tatum gets doubtful tag ahead of Phoenix Suns matchup
Jayson Tatum sprained his ankle when he landed awkwardly on Domantas Sabonis’ foot during the Boston Celtics’ 113-95 win over the Sacramento Kings last Monday.

The six-time NBA All-Star finished the match with 25 points, seven rebounds, eight assists, and five three-pointers on 8-for-15 shooting from the field in 26 minutes.
If the Boston Celtics rule Tatum out against the Phoenix Suns later, Sam Hauser and Al Horford will play more minutes.
