It doesn’t come as a surprise anymore that the Boston Celtics are the best team in the NBA right now. But for All-Star forward Jayson Tatum, his team must be more consistent, especially since they’re about to hit the road soon.
Just recently, Boston hosted the Milwaukee Bucks at the TD Garden and got the close 122-119 win over them. Tatum led the way for Beantown by dropping 31 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals, two blocks. Apart from his all-around game, the Celtics also had Derrick White and Jaylen Brown, two starters who tallied 23 and 21 points, respectively.
The Bucks, meanwhile, were still without Giannis Antetokounmpo due to a hamstring injury. Damian Lillard stepped up for Milwaukee by making 32 points, four rebounds, and six assists. Khris Middleton added 22 points, while Bobby Portis made 24 points and 15 rebounds from the bench.
Boston’s win helped the team secure its hold on the league’s best record of 55 wins and 14 losses. Milwaukee, on the other hand, is still in second place with 44 wins and 25 loses, including its recent match against the Celtics.
Boston Celtics Receive Strong Challenge From Jayson Tatum Ahead of Road Trip
Boston’s game against the Bucks marks the team’s final game before they hit the road. But before they do, Tatum issued a challenge to the Celtics, which can be seen in a tweet by Jack Simone on X:
Jayson Tautm on Celtics’ upcoming road trip:
“Obviously, we want to win every game we play. So, it starts with Friday. Going into Detroit. It’s a good test for us. PLaying on national TV. Playing against the Bucks and then playing Detroit… Can we play the same way?… Looking forward to it. We’re going to be gone a long time. But it’s all a part of it,” Simone tweeted.
The Celtics are scheduled to face the Detroit Pistons, Bucks, Atlanta Hawks twice, and New Orleans Pelicans in their respective home courts. And while some of these teams aren’t contenders, they might surprise everyone by winning against Boston.
In any case, the Celts would do well to listen to Tatum’s challenge. In doing so, they’ll gain more momentum entering the postseason in the coming weeks.
