Boston Celtics: Jayson Tatum Offers Savage Response on Being the Most Scrutinized Star in the 2024 NBA Playoffs

The talking heads have unfairly scrutinized the Boston Celtics despite taking care of business in the Eastern Conference. And now that they are back in the NBA Finals, Jayson Tatum and co. will look to block out all the noise.

During his media availability on Wednesday, the five-time NBA All-Star forward said he’s aware of the skeptics, but he is shrugging them off, saying he is locked in on winning Banner No. 18.

“You think so?” Tatum answered when asked about being the most scrutinized player in the postseason. “I think more so than me, it’s my mom, my grandma, family, and friends. They’re more bothered by it than me. It was a long break without NBA basketball so they had to overanalyze every little thing.”

“It’s the Finals. They wouldn’t talk about me if I wasn’t good. So I try to take some positives out of it and change the channel,” he added via Noa Dalzell of SBNation.

Jayson Tatum for the Boston Celtics this postseason

Jayson Tatum has easily been one of the best players for the Boston Celtics in this year’s playoffs since he is averaging 26.0 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game. However, his shooting percentages must improve, as he shoots only 44.2 percent from the field and 29 percent from three-point land.

Despite his shooting woes, Tatum is commended for doing the intangibles for the Boston Celtics, such as defending, playmaking, and rebounding at a high level.

If the Boston Celtics are going to win it all this season, it’ll likely be on the back of a superb series of Jayson Tatum, who has to be the best player on the floor in this year’s NBA Finals.
