The Boston Celtics have already secured a berth in the 2025 NBA Playoffs, but there is still some concern among the team, particularly about the status of superstar forward Jayson Tatum.
The six-time NBA All-Star went down with a painful ankle injury during Monday’s road game versus the Sacramento Kings. Tatum hurt his ankle when he landed on the foot of Sacramento big man Domantas Sabonis in the third quarter while taking a 3-pointer.
Boston Celtics provide update on Jayson Tatum before Suns game

Although the Celtics still managed to beat the Kings, 113-95, even with Tatum not returning to the contest, his status for the upcoming meeting with the Phoenix Suns this Wednesday is up in the air.
It seems likely that Tatum will miss Boston’s game against Kevin Durant and the Suns, with Boston announcing the former Duke Blue Devils’ status for that outing as “doubtful.”

Injury Report for tomorrow at Phoenix:
Jayson Tatum (left ankle sprain) – DOUBTFUL
Xavier Tillman (left knee joint sprain) – OUT
Even if Tatum gets ultimately ruled out for the Suns game, the Celtics should still feel good about their chances of overcoming Phoenix. Boston, which is on a six-game win streak, has the likes of Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis, Derrick White, and Jrue Holiday healthy.
On the season, Tatum is putting up 27.1 points, 8.7 rebounds and 6.0 assists while posting a 54.3 effective field goal percentage and a 58.7 true shooting percentage.
Should Tatum miss Wednesday’s game in Phoenix, the soonest he can return to action will be on Saturday when the Celtics play the San Antonio Spurs on the road.
