There’s a new chapter to the bitter feud between former Boston Celtics teammates Kendrick Perkins and Brian Scalabrine, as the former criticized the latter anew during his latest appearance on the All the Smoke podcast.
Kendrick Perkins called out Brian Scalabrine after a rumor emerged last week that he was banned from attending the Boston Celtics’ ring ceremony on Opening Night because of his contentious relationship with the organization.
“To be quite honest, I don’t give a f**k. I never take winning the championship for granted. But they act like you have to be tied to that situation or that’s your life. I think what ended up happening was — well, I know — I said a take about Joe Mazzulla. They win the championship, and Brian Scalabrine, and he’s like, ‘Well, the door’s not just open for him to come back to the Celtic organization.’” Perkins explained.
“Scal, who the f**k are you? You’re the same motherf**ker that, when we won a championship, was in street clothes, hurry up, and changed into your jersey so once we started taking pictures, you could know that you was part of the team. And I actually like Scal, but I thought that should have been a phone conversation,” he added.
Perkins also revealed that he got a dinner invite from Joe Mazzulla in January when the Boston Celtics take on the Houston Rockets, and the ESPN analyst is keen on accepting the offer.
Kendrick Perkins’ disintegrated relationship with the Boston Celtics fanbase
Kendrick Perkins is no longer a fan favorite in Boston because he frequently criticized the team last season. He urged his former team before to split up the Jayson Tatum-Jaylen Brown duo and even essentially called Joe Mazzulla stupid.
Before their 2023-24 title run, Kendrick Perkins was an integral part of the 2007-08 title-winning squad, as he was the starting center. He was teammates back then with Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo, and even Brian Scalabrine, among others.
