The Boston Celtics have one of the best rosters in the NBA, so it’s easy to understand why they’re tipped as favorites to win this year’s Finals over the Dallas Mavericks. They have impact players all over the roster, and this strength showed its value throughout their postseason campaign.
Kristaps Porzingis is one of the players who have made their impact felt on the Celtics roster. While there are still questions about his Game 1 availability, it’s hard to deny Porzingis’ value as a key contributor to the Celtics’ championship hopes.
He’s established himself as a key member of the C’s that some fans may have forgotten his time as a member of the Mavericks. What was supposed to become a Euro-centric powerhouse in the Southwest quickly unraveled as injuries prevented him from fulfilling the hype.
KP’s time with the Mavs was a disappointment, and he was eventually shipped off to Washington before landing with the Celtics. One former player assured the big man would get his own welcome when he plays at the American Airlines Center at any point in the Finals.
Chandler Parsons thinks Kristaps Porzingis will get booed as the Boston Celtics face the Dallas Mavericks
Chandler Parsons played for the Dallas Mavericks during two years of his short NBA career, so he’s speaking from experience when it comes to anything related to the Mavericks.
He believes that KP’s disappointing stint with the squad will have him get a hostile welcome from the American Airlines Center crowd if he ever gets to play.
Per masslive.com’s Souichi Terada:
“It will be way more violent towards Kyrie Irving in Boston, no doubt,” Parsons said. “But don’t get it twisted: They do not like Porzingis in Dallas. Luka did not like playing with him. There is an actual beef there where it’s going to be, every time he touches the ball, he’s getting booed. There’s a real beef there.”
Parsons noting Kyrie Irving’s probable reception with the Boston Celtics puts Porzingis’ situation with the Mavericks in perspective. However, it’s undeniable that the fans will let him hear it when he plays.
