Among the Boston Celtics‘ five starters, three of them are headed to Paris with Team USA for the Olympics. Oddly enough, it’s the reigning NBA Finals MVP, Jaylen Brown, who was snubbed for a spot on the national team.
To add insult to injury, Brown was overlooked for a second time when it was his Celtics teammate Derrick White who was selected as an injury replacement for Kawhi Leonard.
Boston Celtics News: Jaylen Brown Speaks Out on Derrick White Issue

Brown came out with a couple of cryptic tweets right after White was announced as the newest member of Team USA. This led some to believe that he wasn’t pleased about being overlooked again, despite the fact that it was his own Celtics teammate who took the vacant spot.
In a recent interview, Brown made it abundantly clear that he has no beef with White. In fact, Brown went out of his way to congratulate his teammate after the announcement was made:
“I called Derrick right away, just to make sure there was so confusion — my love for you, and all of that,” Brown said. “He knew that, and he did. You don’t always got to make everything public, but me and D-White are good.”

This does not necessarily mean, however, that Brown is completely at peace with USA Basketball’s controversial decision. He’s also hinted that Nike may have played a role in preventing him from getting on the squad.
What is clear, though, is that whatever issue Brown has right now has nothing to do with White.
