The Boston Celtics came out with a statement win in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night. After leading the Dallas Mavericks by as many as 29 points, the Celtics held on to secure a lopsided 107-89 victory to draw first blood in this series.
As expected, Celtics star Jrue Holiday had his fingerprints all over this blowout win. The veteran guard was also quick to fire a bit of a warning for his team shortly after the final buzzer.
Boston Celtics News: Jrue Holiday’s Immediate Reaction to Game 1 Win

Holiday had some high praise for his team after their outstanding effort on Thursday night. This was despite the fact that the Celtics were coming off an extended break following their Eastern Conference Finals sweep of the Indiana Pacers.
The two-time All-Star, however, also knows that the job is far from done for Boston. In fact, he continues to be wary of what the Mavs are capable of:
“We came out with intensity,” he said. “… Maybe they just had an off game or something but we gotta come with the same intensity we did last time.”

As they always say, you don’t mess with a wounded animal. This is exactly the case for Luka Doncic and Co. after they were so utterly embarrassed by the Celtics in the series opener. You can be sure that the Mavs will be out for some revenge come Game 2 on Sunday.
Holiday certainly knows that this will be the case, and he’s not going to let his team rest on their laurels.
