Latvian big man Kristaps Porzingis has missed majority of the playoffs this year due to an injury. After making a return to the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, the Boston Celtics star is in danger of missing the remainder of the series because of an injury again.
Porzingis made his NBA debut as the fourth overall pick for the New York Knicks in the 2015 Draft. Initially met with skepticism from fans and the media, he soon won them over with his unique combination of outside shooting and guard-like ball handling skills, showcased alongside his dominant presence as a big man.

Unfortunately, injuries plagued Porzingis during his time in the Big Apple, preventing him from fully realizing his immense potential. In 2019, he was traded to the Dallas Mavericks, and in 2022, he found himself with the Washington Wizards. However, injuries continued to hamper his progress, causing him to miss significant stretches of games for both teams.
During the recent offseason, Porzingis was acquired by the Boston Celtics in a three-team trade involving the Washington Wizards and the Memphis Grizzlies. Despite playing only 57 games for the Celtics, the former All-Star was a potent force on both ends of the court. However, just as he returned to action after missing two rounds of the postseason, Porzingis suffered yet another injury, forcing him to sit out Game 3 of the 2024 NBA Finals against the Mavericks on the road.
Boston Celtics’ Kristaps Porzingis At Risk of Missing Remaining NBA Finals Games Due to Injury

Porzingis’ susceptibility to injuries has been no secret, especially after missing most of the playoffs this year. According to NBA analyst Adrian Wojnarowski in a video shared by Malika Andrews on X, the Celtics big man is in danger of missing the rest of the Finals.

Although he hasn’t played that much for Boston this year, Porzingis remained a productive player on the court whenever he’s healthy. Over the course of 57 regular season games, he has averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.9 blocks per contest.

It remains to be seen whether Porzingis can play at least one more game or if Luka Doncic and the Mavs can extend the series so the Latvian star can see action on the court. In any case, the Boston center’s presence isn’t that needed as his team is now in a commanding 3-0 lead in the Finals.
