With the way the Boston Celtics dominated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the second round of the NBA Playoffs, it’s almost easy to overlook the fact that they had been playing without one of their most important players on the roster.
This is after Kristaps Porzingis suffered a worrying calf injury in Boston’s opening series against the Miami Heat. At this point, however, it appears that the 7-foot-2 big man will be back in the mix for the Celtics just in time for the Eastern Conference Finals against the Indiana Pacers.
Boston Celtics News: Kristaps Porzingis Nearing Return
NBA guru Adrian Wojnarowski dropped a massive update on Porzingis’ injury status on Tuesday. According to the renowned league insider, there’s a big chance the former All-Star is able to return in their series against Indiana:
“When this series returns to Indiana, I’m told that Porzingis could return as soon as Game 4 on Monday,” Woj said. “… There is momentum that he will return in this series.”

There is no guarantee that Porzingis will be able to come back in this series, but the fact that he’s making significant progress toward this end is huge for the Celtics.
Boston is currently considered the favorite against an underdog Indiana side even without Porzingis. However, should they get to the NBA Finals, the presence of their prized big man will be of utmost importance as they look to bring home title No. 18.
