The Boston Celtics had an upsetting Game 2 loss on Wednesday against the New York Knicks. Although they had a sizable lead of 20 points, the Knicks closed the gap between them and left TD Garden with a 2-0 series advantage. The final defensive play from Mikal Bridges to prevent Jayson Tatum from passing the ball sealed the 91-90 win before they travel to New York.
Before the game, former Celtics star Paul Pierce promised something to his co-hosts Joy Taylor and Keyshawn Johson at “Speak” on FS1. Pierce said that if Boston lost Game 2, he would walk 20.2 miles barefoot from his house to Fox’s studio. The 2008 Finals MVP was confident that his former team would come away with the win.
“If the Celtics lose Game 2 at home, I promise you, I’m walking here tomorrow,” Pierce said. “I’m walking here, 15 miles. I’m walking here in my robe, no shoes on, barefeet, if the Celtics lose tonight.”

“I guarantee this one, put the house on this game,” Pierce added. “No shot we losing.”
However, they couldn’t protect their home arena and lost another game. Pierce posted a photo of a screenshot of how long he’ll walk following the loss.

After that, fans demanded that Pierce follow through on his promise.
“Start walking now, you’ll be there on time 😂😭,” a fan said.
“Start walking. Don’t s**t yourself again,” another fan commented.
“Idk what time you have to get to the studio, but you might as well start now 🤣” one fan posted.

Former NBA player threw shade at the league following the Boston Celtics’ loss

Since the 3-point revolution, most teams have based their system on maximizing the outside shot. However, it’s not always reliable, and fans have seen the negative outcome of relying heavily on shooting outside jumpers.
Following Game 2 between the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks, former NBA player Rudy Gay threw shade at the league. He criticized how no one can effectively score inside the 3-point arc.
“I’m convinced nobody knows what to do inside of the 3pt line nowadays,” Gay posted on X.
In the Celtics-Knicks contest, there were 71 attempts from deep between both teams. Boston tried 40 shots and made 10, while New York had 31 attempts and only made nine.
This isn’t new and was the same story in Game 1. The defending champions had 60 tries and made 15 shots. The Knicks, meanwhile, had a better showing of 17-for-37 from deep.
