The Boston Celtics proved themselves to be the best team in the Eastern Conference after cruising through their postseason opponents in only 14 games.
While they did take down the Indiana Pacers in only four games, they didn’t have to wait long to figure out which team they would face in this year’s NBA Finals. The Dallas Mavericks made quick work of the Minnesota Timberwolves and finished the series with a convincing Game 5 win.

It’s easy to see why many are tipping the Celtics to win their 18th championship banner if you look at the roster of both teams. They even got a massive confidence boost as one of their former players believes they have what it takes to win their first championship since 2008.
Kendrick Perkins thinks the Boston Celtics will win the 2024 NBA Finals

Kendrick Perkins is part of the 2008 Boston Celtics squad who won it all in 2008. The team—led by Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo—won the title against a strong Los Angeles Lakers squad in six games.
Perkins, who now works as a broadcast analyst, thinks that the current roster of the Celtics are strong enough to win the NBA title.
“I’ve got them winning it all,” Perkins said of the Celtics. “I got — whatever team they match up against. I think if they played the Dallas Mavericks, I think it goes to a Game 7. If they play the Minnesota Timberwolves, I think it goes to Game 6. But I do have Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown hanging Banner No. 18 up in the rafters.”
It’s easy to see why Perkins tips his former team to win it. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have proven themselves to be capable leaders who can take over games when needed.
They also have one of the best supporting casts in the entire league. Derrick White and Jrue Holiday are among the best overperformers in the postseason, while Kristaps Porzingis and Al Horford make for a formidable frontcourt rotation that can trump the Mavericks.

Moreover, they have plenty of postseason experience. They have made six conference finals over the past eight years, and their brutal loss to the Golden State Warriors helped them grow as a team.
The time is ripe for the Boston Celtics to reap their harvest, but the Mavs will not make it easy. Fans will be hoping that their team will make it count this time.
