The postseason is still a couple of games away, but it’s fair to think that Joe Mazzulla and the Boston Celtics are already looking for ways to dominate their future playoff matchups.
The C’s are huge favorites to make a Finals return despite the Cleveland Cavaliers holding a better record this season. The playoff picture will likely have them face the Orlando Magic in the first round, but both them and the Atlanta Hawks would hardly stand a chance against the C’s deep roster.

As NBA coverage begins to gear up for postseason ball, an analyst who won it all with the C’s during his playing career gets honest about the team’s hopes to make a repeat.
Kendrick Perkins thinks the Boston Celtics are primed to win back-to-back NBA titles

First Take analyst Kendrick Perkins isn’t one to veer away from controversial NBA takes and isn’t afraid to get into it with players and other analysts on air.
While the former Boston big man makes a living making outrageous claims about NBA teams, his take on the Celtics’ postseason chances may not seem wild to some basketball fans.
Per Heavy Sports’ Adam Taylor:
“I have a better chance of finding a salad in a donut shop.” Perkins said. “It’s not happening…Let me explain why. 1. The Celtics were disrespected after they won their last championship, so they’re p****d off. 2. They brought back every single player from that championship squad…Their others, outside of Tatum, Brown and the rest of the starting five, has gotten better…I don’t see a single team in the NBA that’s gonna beat this team healthy in a seven-game series. Not one.”
Perkins’s NSFW rant about the Celtics isn’t based on unproven ideas. The C’s have been nothing short of phenomenal this season. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown spearhead one of the deepest rosters in the NBA, with almost every starter averaging at least double digits in points.
While the Cavaliers have the players and coaching to match them, they don’t have the level of familiarity the Celtics roster has with each other. It will be tough for any team in the East to stop them, and the team to emerge out of a congested Western Conference may find themselves too tired to deal with Boston.
