Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics are still hot. After obliterating the New York Knicks in last Tuesday’s 132-109 win at TD Garden, the reigning NBA champions, as expected, dominated the Washington Wizards in Boston’s first road game of the 2024-25 NBA regular season.
The Celtics blew out the Wizards, 122-102, with Tatum firing 25 points on 9-for-20 shooting from the floor.

Tatum also gave Washington rookie Alex Sarr nightmares. During one possession in the second quarter, Sarr found himself taking on Tatum one-on-one. It did not end well for Sarr, who got put in a blender by the former Duke Blue Devils star.

Fans react to Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum welcoming Alex Sarr into the league

Guarding Tatum is no easy task for anyone, let alone for a rookie who was playing in just his first-ever regular-season game in the NBA. But to be fair, Sarr defended Tatum pretty well. Despite all the moves from Tatum made to shake off Sarr, the 19-year-old Wizards power forward managed to stay in front and get his hand on the face of the Celtics star.

Sarr finished the game with just two points on 1-for-7 shooting from the field. It’s still too early to say what kind of career he will have after just a game in the NBA, especially one that’s against the defending champs.
