Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown had a strong statement following their 113-107 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday. Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo tricked Brown with a phony handshake during the game, which caused Brown to go viral on social media.
When Milwaukee led 42–32 in the second quarter, Antetokounmpo made a tough play on Brown. The Greek Freak posted up the All-Star forward and accidentally hit his face with his left elbow. The Bucks star was called for an offensive foul for his play on his defender.
After the play, the two stars jogged to the other side of the court. Giannis reached out his hand for a handshake with Brown. As the Celtics star was about to give his opponent a handshake, the Bucks star playfully brushed the side of his hair and laughed.
Fortunately for Brown, he had the last laugh as they finished the game with a win. The 2024 Finals MVP commented on his first-half interaction with Giannis after the game.
“Giannis is a child,” Brown said. “I’m just focused on helping my team get a win and that’s what we did tonight.”

Brown finished the night with 14 points, five rebounds and four assists. The three-time All-Star had a poor shooting performance from the field and only made 30.8% of his attempts. His co-star, Jayson Tatum, did most of the heavy lifting on the offensive end. He finished with a strong double-double of 31 points and 12 rebounds.
Next up for the Celtics is their Emirates NBA Cup debut matchup against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday.
Boston Celtics star frustrated about the no-call on Giannis Antetokounmpo
The physicality between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Boston Celtics was evident throughout the game. During the third period, Jayson Tatum went up to shoot a 3-pointer from the corner. Antetokounmpo, being his defender, went up to contest the shot.
Unfortunately for Tatum, Antetokounmpo planted his foot on his landing spot, causing him to roll his ankle. The officials failed to call the foul on the Bucks star, even after Boston’s star player complained about it.

After the game, the Celtics player reassured the reporters that his ankle was uninjured.
“It’s cool. I was able to play through it. A little sore, probably a little sore tomorrow,” Tatum said.
However, he talked about his frustration over the no-call from the officials.
“Certain calls I just feel like you can’t miss. Your job’s to protect the guys on the court, protect the shooter. That’s something I could’ve been out for 6 weeks or whatever. For it to be a no-call, let alone, they didn’t get to review it or look at it. I lose my s**t, cuss somebody out, then I get a tech. It’s a double whammy. That s**t is frustrating when all you get is, ‘Sorry we missed it’.”
"I could've been out for 6 weeks… for it to be a no-call… that s*** is frustrating."
