The Boston Celtics’ gigantic sale to Bill Chisholm for an incredible $6.1 billion came at a unique time in Celtics history.
While it’s understandable that such an amount was too big to ignore, uncertainty at a time when the roster is focused on mounting a back-to-back championship run might cause a little bit of trouble for a team focused a nineteenth championship banner.

While fans are somewhat divided on the sale, one of the team’s franchise players shared his honest thoughts on the sale and what it could bring to one of the association’s most storied teams.
Jayson Tatum shares his honest thoughts on Boston Celtics sale

Tatum’s response to questions about the sale gives fans an idea on how he sees the sale, and it seems he’s all in on the acquisition.
Per masslive.com’s Brian Robb:
“Everything you all heard,” Tatum told reporters about what he’s heard about Chisholm via NBC Sports Boston. “He grew up around the area, big Boston fan. He’s proud of what we’ve accomplished and understands what the Celtics mean to the city and the NBA. He wanted to be a part of that and help take it forward anyway he can.”
He also shared that the sale wasn’t surprising, given that he’s talked to the previous owner about it:
“I talked to Wyc a few times,” Tatum explained. “He’s still going to be around and he’s kind of keeping me updated and saying whoever it is, the next group will be great for the organization. I told Wyc, I trust him, whatever is next. I have no doubt about how smooth things will continue to run.”
Keeping the team local could be what the Celtics need to mount another dynastic run the fans haven’t seen since the 60s. With the league being chock full of amazing athletes, having a new owner who isn’t hesitant to spend the big bucks for the squad may be what the C’s need.
