On Monday, New York Liberty star Breanna Stewart dazzled the Met Gala with her all-white outfit, prompting praise from Indiana Fever’s Syndey Colson for representing the LGBTQ community well at the fashion event.

Many stars across various sectors attended this year’s Met Gala. However, Stewart stood out with a sharply tailored, pure white ensemble that featured a low-cut tuxedo paired with wide-leg trousers, then layered with a long-line coat, square-toe boots, and a fedora hat.

The former UConn Huskies’ outfit was based on a scene in the 1996 film “The First Wives Club,” where artists Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler, and Diane Keaton are in an all-white ensemble while driving on the way home.

Colson shared Yahoo’s post on X/Twitter featuring Breanna Stewart’s outfit. She captioned, “The lesbian representation we needed in the final scene of first wives club,” which had 238k views and 5.8k likes.

WNBA stars Angel Reese and Sabrina Ionescu were also at the event. Reese, in particular, is a member of the Met Gala’s host committee.

Both Stewart and Colson are members of the LGBT+ community. “Stewie” is married to former WNBA player Marta Xargay Casademont. They married in July 2021 and have two children: Ruby Mae and Theo Josep.

Meanwhile, Colson openly identified herself as a lesbian in 2023.

Breanna Stewart and the Liberty will return to the court on May 17 against the Las Vegas Aces for the season opener, seeking to defend their first-ever championship title. Meanwhile, Colson will also play on the same day against Reese and the Chicago Sky, hoping for a deep run this season.

Breanna Stewart re-signs with the Liberty, prepares for defending title in the upcoming season

Breanna Stewart proved valuable in helping the New York Liberty obtain their first championship against the Minnesota Lynx. In March, she re-signed with the team for a one-year contract, continuing to be one of the “Big Three” surrounding Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones.

Breanna Stewart averaged 20.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists last season. Her performance remained consistent in the playoffs, where she started all of Liberty’s matches and helped them arrive at the Finals.

During the Liberty’s training camp, Stewart emphasized her team’s preparations for the upcoming season to defend their championship.

“The mentality is turning the page. We had a lot of time to celebrate it and now it’s building to be better. We talked about being consistently great night in and night out and that starts with building great habits and training camp,”Stewart said.

Breanna Stewart will enter her ninth season in the WNBA, winning three championships and many more accolades. At 30, her performance made it clear that she’s not yet slowing down.
