New York Liberty’s Breanna Stewart was cheerful after receiving record-breaking support after her momentous victory against the Minnesota Lynx in the action-packed game two of the ongoing WNBA Finals.
Breanna Stewart and the Liberty ended the game dominatingly, leading by 14 points in their final score against the Lynx. It was the perfect response to New York’s shocking overtime loss in the first game.
However, one of the most significant factors in Liberty’s win was the colossal support of the Barclays Arena’s spectators. The match’s 18,040 fans became the team’s highest attendance on their home court.
Breanna Stewart herself was enthusiastic about gaining such encouragement. In the post-game interview, the two-time WNBA champion thanked the fans for supporting her and her team.
“I mean I couldn’t wait to come back here Sunday and change the narrative a little bit,” Breanna Stewart said. “I appreciate you guys so much for continuing to have our backs. You guys helped us get this one.”

The recent game made the Liberty tie the finals series 1-1. They would now play at the Lynx’s home court at the Target Center in Minnesota for the third and fourth games of the WNBA finals.
Breanna Stewart achieves most steals record
The victorious second game against the Minnesota Lynx made Breanna Stewart of the New York Liberty break the record for the most steals made in a single WNBA finals game with seven.
After leading the game in the early quarters, the Liberty eased off in the second half, which cost them the wrathful comeback of the Lynx. The visitors even held command of the match with five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter after a layup from Napheesa Collier.
The Liberty immediately returned to their senses, launching their counteroffensive thanks to Breanna Stewart’s pair of steals, quickly turning the match in their favor as the game concluded.
The Liberty never gave the Lynx another chance by igniting a 12-0 run. They won, 80-66, tying the finals series, 1-1. Stewart scored 21 points, five assists, eight rebounds, and a record-breaking seven steals.
Breanna Stewart corrects Game One errors
After the devastating game one, Breanna Stewart made amends for her shortcomings as she and her team, the New York Liberty, emerged victorious in game two of the WNBA finals against the Minnesota Lynx.
In game one, Breanna Stewart scored 18 points, three assists, and nine rebounds. However, her efforts were futile in preventing the Lynx from gaining a shot in the final seconds of the match, resulting in a loss for the Liberty.
However, the former UConn Huskies was determined to win for her team, proving herself in the next game, where she scored better with 21 points and showcased defense, particularly in the game’s final minutes.
As the following game rages at the Lynx’s home court, Breanna Stewart aims to grant the Liberty another win, a turning point that could eventually grant their first WNBA championship.
