Bronny James recorded a G League career high of 39 points in the South Bay Lakers’ victory over the Santa Cruz Warriors on Tuesday. His mother, Savannah James took to social media to celebrate her son’s career milestone.
The 20-year-old guard also tallied seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals in the Lakers’ 122-118 win. Savannah posted a clip of her son Bronny being interviewed after the game.
“Listen, I belong out here,” Bronny told G League reporter Timothy Parker in a not-so-subtle acknowledgement of the criticisms he has received on social media. “That’s all I’m trying to prove. A lot of people say I don’t, but I just come out, work every day, try to get better every day.”
Savannah captioned her repost of the interview. “Say it louder for the people in the back,” she said.
Despite Bronny James’ career highlight that night, the South Bay Lakers won’t be advancing to the G League playoffs this year. Nevertheless, his development has been a bright spot for the developmental team.
Prior to his G League achievement, Bronny also achieved a career high in the NBA last week when he scored 17 points in the Lakers’ 118-89 blowout loss to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Bronny James’ approach to criticisms gets support from his mom
The Athletic once did a piece on Bronny James, specifically focusing on how the LA Lakers rookie handles his critics. The eldest son of LeBron James is quoted saying the following line about his doubters:
“I try to let [the criticism] go through one ear and out the other, put my head down, come to work and be positive every day.”

Just a few days ago, Bronny’s mom Savannah James nodded her approval on his words of wisdom. She shared an image containing a picture of Bronny and his quote to her Instagram story.
“Mean what you say, and say what you mean,” she captioned the post.

Savannah James herself is no stranger to criticisms targeting her loved ones. Every once in a while, LeBron James’ “queen” claps back at their critics. However, Bronny’s critics don’t look like they’re about to stop anytime soon.
