Bronny James has been one of the most talked-about rookies in the NBA lately. Not only because he carries the name of one of the most successful players in the league, since he is the junior of NBA legend LeBron James, but also because people have always questioned his skills, ability, and worthiness of being in the NBA. The latest on the list would be Bill Maher and ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith, who called Bronny a “nepo baby.”
In a new episode of the “Club Random Podcast,” Maher hosted Smith in a conversation about the younger James in the NBA. The topic was about whether Bronny James deserved to be in the NBA, and Maher began by discussing the concept of Bronny being a “nepo baby.”
“I see this sort of world of nepo babies and trust fund kinds when you’re out,” Maher said. “Bronny James is the one who f****d it up. Because the point of it for people who didn’t see it is that sports [is] the last place where you can trust that it’s not nepo babies. Everything is nepo babies except sports.”

With that said, Maher confidently stated that Bronny James cannot make it even on the list of the top 600 NBA players. As the NBA has had more than 4,500 individual players in its history, that would mean that Maher thinks Bronny cannot make it even to the top 10% of the league’s players.
Long before Bronny even first played inside the court, rumors of him being a product of LeBron’s influence have been going around, with previous reports that claimed that he was only drafted by the Lakers to make LeBron stay with the team, and not because of any expectations of skills or abilities.

Bronny James Called a “Make-a-Swish” Kid
Popular sports commentator Jason Whitlock also previously criticized LeBron James for making a “Make-a-Swish” kid out of his son Bronny.
“If you’ve ever been to a spring football game where they bring out a Make-A-Wish kid and let him score a touchdown, that’s what happened in Cleveland last night, and LeBron is smiling ear-to-ear as he continues to take a dump on real competition,” Whitlock said in one of his videos, citing the Lakers game against the Cleveland Cavaliers where Bronny made his first NBA point.

Whitlock added that LeBron’s inclusion of Bronny is the “destruction of the NBA.”
Bronny James has not given out any significant numbers this season, as his few minutes of game time only yielded less than a point on all categories per game. He has been out since early November due to a left heel contusion.
