Brooklyn Nets news: Vince Carter is set to receive the greatest honor of his decorated career this year when he gets enshrined into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2024. It’s a much-deserved honor for the former eight-time All-Star, who undoubtedly made a significant impact on the game during his 22 years in the NBA.
That’s not the only distinction Carter is set to receive, though. This is after the Nets organization announced their intention to retire his No. 15 jersey in the near future.
Brooklyn Nets News: Vince Carter Holds Back the Tears During Jersey Retirement Announcement
On Wednesday, the Nets posted a video on X, formerly Twitter, featuring the exact moment Carter found out that the organization was going to hang his No. 15 jersey in the rafters. It was an emotional moment for the 47-year-old, who struggled to hold back the tears as he soaked up the gravity of the moment:
It’s official: We’re raising @mrvincecarter15’s jersey to the rafters next season.
And we invited a pair of Nets legends to assist with the announcement.

Naturally, it just had to be Carter’s partner in crime during his days in New Jersey, Jason Kidd, who made the official announcement via a pre-recorded video. Kidd had a heartfelt message for his former teammate as well, which prompted an equally endearing response from Carter.
Kidd and Carter had some memorable times during their run with the Nets as this duo terrorized the league for several years. Now, both of their jerseys will be hanging in the rafters of the Barclays Center side-by-side. That’s pretty awesome.
