Brooklyn Nets forward Ben Simmons is working his way back to 100 percent as he prepares for his contract year in 2024-25. The three-time NBA All-Star will earn roughly $40 million next season before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2025.
It’s not a secret that the Brooklyn Nets are entering their rebuilding phase after they traded Mikal Bridges this offseason, so the team has reportedly placed several veterans on the trade block, including Ben Simmons, in an attempt to haul in future assets.
Speaking on The Brooklyn Pod, Brooklyn Nets insider Bob Windrem outlined the team’s potential plans for the Australian international.
“If he suddenly becomes 15 (points), five (rebounds), and five (assists), maybe it works,” Windrem said. “The other thing is, even if he does 15-5-5, the number of teams that are going to be competing for him is going to be small because of those two back surgeries. But the more likely scenario that everybody believes is they’ll wait for the trade deadline and they’ll try to get a good deal.”
Ben Simmons will have a big year for the Brooklyn Nets, claims trainer
Ben Simmons only played 15 games for the Brooklyn Nets last season, averaging 6.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 5.7 assists on 58.1 percent shooting from the field. He was ruled out for the remainder of the season on March 7 due to his chronic back injury.
Many have understandably written off the former NBA Rookie of the Year at this point, but renowned trainer Chris Brickley believes that the former No. 1 pick is going to have an All-Star-caliber year this upcoming season.
“@bensimmons is back to playing All Star talent level basketball. Big season loading…” Brickley posted on his Instagram account.
