The Milwaukee Bucks’ descent into chaos continues as they lost a second straight game to the Cleveland Cavaliers to fall into 1-6.
The Bucks were ‘in the game’ in both nights against the Cavs but the opponents guard have other things in mind to steal the win. It was Donovan Mitchell who made the winning shot a few days ago and Darius Garland decided to steal the win again with a go-ahead three in the dying seconds.
The 1-6 start is probably the worst in the Greek Freak era.
Can Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, and the rest of the Bucks turn things around? History is not that kind to such start.
“Since 1970, 150 NBA teams have started 1-6 or worse. Just 12 of those teams made the playoffs that season, and five of those did that with a losing record. None won more than 47 games. Bucks have a steep hill to climb,” shared NBA reporter Mike Vorkunov.
With the recent loss, the Bucks broke their own record of worst start of 1-5 from the 2000-2001 season.
It could get more frustrating for them as their schedule gets harder this week. The team will host the Utah Jazz before paying a visit to the New York Knicks. They will go back to the Fiserv Forum to host defending champions Boston Celtics.
Bucks 2024-2025 season compared to Giannis Antetokounmpo’s worst ones
The Bucks organization, players, and coaching staff probably deserve the lambasting they are getting for their terrible start.
The team already got a perennial MVP candidate in Antetokounmpo who continues to produce monster numbers. They also have one of the best scorers in the league in Lillard who is also shooting the lights out whenever on the court.
The team is supposed to be a title contender with the Greek Freak around. However, none seem to be effective for them.
This could be the worst season start for Giannis the superstar. There are only two instances he did not make the playoffs. First was in his rookie year in 2014 when the Bucks had the worst record. The second one was in 2016 when they finished 12th in the Eastern Conference standings.
The thing is they had a different situation a decade ago. The team was still in development and now, they are meant to win now.
