Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo will miss games next week, including the 2025 NBA All-Star Game. On Sunday, Shams Charania of ESPN reported that Antetokounmpo will be sidelined due to a mild calf strain. Charania revealed that the Bucks star will return to action after the All-Star break.
The Greek Freak has missed three games in a row. His last game was on Feb. 2 in a 132-119 loss against the Memphis Grizzlies. The 6-foot-11 forward had 30 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists on 37 minutes of playing time.

Doc Rivers, the head coach of the Bucks, stated on Sunday that there is a chance the 2021 Finals MVP may play in the team’s first game back after the break on Feb. 20. Milwaukee will play against the Los Angeles Clippers after the All-Star break.
“That’s the hope. We’re really hoping that when we come out of the break, we have our team. That’s the hope. That’s the guide,” Rivers told reporters.
In the 2024-25 season, the Bucks have not performed well without whenever Giannis isn’t playing. In the number of games the nine-time All-Star has missed (nine games), the team has only won four. Antetokounmpo has played 41 games for Milwaukee this season, averaging 31.8 points, 12.2 rebounds and 5.9 assists on 60.8% shooting.
The Bucks are fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 28-23 record, but they have lost six of their last ten games.
At the trade deadline, the team made a crucial change to their roster and traded three-time All-Star Khris Middleton to the Washington Wizards. In return, the Bucks acquired forward Kyle Kuzma. The deal involved the New York Knicks and the San Antonio Spurs.
Overall, the Bucks received Kuzma, Jericho Sims and a 2025 second-round pick. The Wizards got Middleton, AJ Johnson and a 2028 first-round pick swap. The Knicks, meanwhile, took Delon Wright and cash considerations from the deal. Finally, the Spurs gained Patrick Baldwin Jr. and cash considerations.
Who’s set to replace Giannis Antetokounmpo in the All-Star game?

The league hasn’t addressed the situation with Giannis Antetokounmpo after it was confirmed he won’t play in the 74th All-Star game in San Francisco, California. However, given that he plays in the East, the replacement will be from the same conference. Fans predict that it could be a chance for Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks to be part of the prestigious event.
Most fans think Young was snubbed this season. The All-Star point guard has done his best to lead the Hawks, who are ninth in the standings with a 25-28 record. The former fifth pick from 2018 is averaging 23.5 points on 40.9% shooting from the field and leads the league in assists with 11.4 per game.
