Freshman combo guard Egor Demin is said to be the real deal. He played liked it in his debut for BYU basketball on Tuesday, as he had a game to remember in the Cougars’ 88-50 demolition of a win over the Central Arkansas Bears at Marriott Center in Provo.
Demin played a total of 31 minutes in the easy victory, producing 18 points, 11 assists, and four steals while shooting 7-for-13 from the field and hitting four of seven attempts from behind the arc. Despite having plenty of touches, he only committed one turnover during the contest.
Demin did not have much problem showcasing the many things he could do on the floor against a lightweight opponent in the form of the Bears, including his ability to find his teammates on offense.
“I like to pass the ball,” Demin said after the Central Arkansas game, per Mitch Harper of KSL Sports. “I really believe that my first option is to involve everybody in the game before I get my game. If my team is playing good, I’m playing better, too.”
Denim, who is from Russia and was a five-star prospect over at 247 Sports, can continue to in BYU basketball’s next game on Friday versus the UC Riverside Highlanders at home.
BYU Basketball freshman Egor Demin turns heads with solid Cougars debut
Demin has social media buzzing with his outstanding play against Central Arkansas. Here are some of the many reactions online to his game:
“Egor Demin’s first college basket comes on a stepback contested three pointer. The massive lead guard is one of the more unique prospects in this year’s class, and I could see him easily shooting into the early lottery if he does things like this consistently”

“You can’t tell just how good BYU is when it plays Central Arkansas, but you can tell that Egor Demin will make the Cougars appointment TV. 18, 11 assists, four rebounds, and three steals in his debut. A special talent.”
