The Indiana Fever’s future is looking bright with the star duo of Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston and new coach Stephanie White. After she parted ways with the Connecticut Sun, the Fever hired White on Friday and held an introductory press conference for her on Monday.
When the new Fever head coach was asked about Clark and Boston, she had plenty of praise for the duo, citing their competitive spirit, mentality, and ability to make others around them better. She also compared the two to one of the NBA’s legendary duos.
“You’ve got the bookends that you want to build around. These two are the best,” White said about Clark and Boston. “There’s so many things that they do well right now and you saw the difference from the beginning of the season to the end and how much better they got with one another. How much they could anticipate, how they facilitated with one another. But there’s so much room for growth, when you think about a (John) Stockton and (Karl) Malone.”
Stephanie White talks abt Caitlin/Aliyah duo, comparing them to NBA duos like Stockton/Malone:

Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston’s comparison with John Stockton and Karl Malone might be on point
Indiana Fever’s returning head coach Stephanie White compared Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston to the Utah Jazz’s John Stockton and Karl Malone. The two NBA legends were great players in their individual right.
“Stock” is the NBA’s all-time leader in steals (3,265) and assists (15.806). The 10-time All-Star played 1,504 regular-season games throughout his 19-year career, playing every game on the schedule in 17 seasons.
Meanwhile, “the Mailman” is a two-time MVP and a 14-time All-Star. He is third in the league’s all-time scoring leaders list (36,928) and seventh in rebounding (14,968).
Together, Stockton and Malone were a formidable duo that mastered the pick-and-roll and made the Utah Jazz a consistent playoff threat in the 90s. They made two consecutive Finals appearances in 1997 and 1998, only to meet and fall to Michael Jordan and his Chicago Bulls both times.
There is warrant in analogizing Clark and Boston with the legendary Jazz duo especially since Clark is a point guard like Stockton and Boston is a power forward like Malone. However, both Fever players are still young in their professional careers and have a lot more ways to go, but they are certainly on the right track.
It is now up to coach Stephanie White to see to it that both Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston reach their full potential so they can find more success in the next season.
